Connect payments
Conciar doesn't process payments itself. You connect your own account at a payment provider, and the money goes straight from your customer to that account. Conciar adds no commission or fee per payment; you only pay your provider's fees.
You can connect Mollie, Buckaroo or both.
| Mollie | Buckaroo | |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter in Conciar | API key | Store key, secret key, merchant GUID |
| Online payment methods | iDEAL, credit card, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay | iDEAL, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay |
| Card terminals at the till | No | Yes |
| No-show card guarantee for reservations | Yes | No |
| Charge cards when you ship an order | No | Yes |
Cash at the till needs no provider. If you only take cash, you can skip this page.
Before you start
- You need an account at Mollie or Buckaroo. Conciar can't create one for you.
- You need the admin or manager role in Conciar.
- Switch on the payment methods you want in your Mollie or Buckaroo account first. Conciar can only offer methods your provider allows.
Connect Mollie
- In Mollie, open Developers → API keys and copy your test key (
test_…) or live key (live_…). - In my.conciar.com, go to Settings → Payment providers.
- Click Configure on the Mollie card.
- Under Authentication, set the switch to Enabled and paste the key into API Key.
- Under Payment Methods, point at a method and click Configure. Set Status to Live and close the window. Do this for each method you want.
- Click Save Payment Settings at the bottom of the page.
The key decides the mode: a test_ key only runs test payments, and a live_ key charges customers for real. To go from testing to real payments, replace the test key with the live key and save again.
Cards with Mollie
For card payments with Mollie, switch on Credit card. Mollie shows Visa, Mastercard and American Express on its own card page. Don't switch on the separate Visa, Mastercard and American Express methods for Mollie; they only work with Buckaroo.
Connect Buckaroo
- In your Buckaroo account (Plaza), look up your store key, secret key and merchant GUID.
- In my.conciar.com, go to Settings → Payment providers and click Configure on the Buckaroo card.
- Under Authentication, set the switch to Enabled and fill in Store Key, Secret Key and Merchant GUID.
- Under Payment Methods, point at a method and click Configure. Set Status to Test or Live.
- Click Save Payment Settings.
With Buckaroo, each method's status decides where its payments go: Test uses Buckaroo's test environment, Live charges for real.
Add a card terminal (Buckaroo)
- On the Buckaroo settings page, find Card terminals.
- Enter a Name (for example "Bar terminal") and the Buckaroo terminal ID, choose Live or Test, and click Add terminal.
Terminals belong to your whole business, not to one till. When staff choose Card terminal at the restaurant till and you have more than one, the till asks which terminal to use. Terminals also work on the self-order kiosk and when selling gift cards.
The shop (store) till doesn't send amounts to a terminal. Its Card option records a payment taken on a separate card reader.
Settings per payment method
Click Configure on a method to open its settings:
- Display Name: the name customers see at checkout.
- Processing Fee: an optional surcharge that the customer pays, as a fixed amount, a percentage or both.
- Order Amount Limits: the method isn't offered below the minimum or above the maximum.
- Restrictions: limit the method to certain shipping methods or countries.
Changes in this window are only kept after you click Save Payment Settings.
Different methods per sales channel
By default every sales channel offers all the methods you switched on. To change that for one location or shop:
- Go to Settings → Sales channels and edit the channel.
- Under Payment Methods, choose Custom for this channel and tick the methods it should offer.
Status updates and webhooks
You don't need to set a webhook URL at Mollie or Buckaroo. Conciar sends the address for status updates along with every payment, so orders and bookings update when a payment succeeds, fails or is refunded.
Backup provider
If you connect both providers, you can switch on Automatic payment failover at the top of Settings → Payment providers. When creating an online payment fails at the customer's provider, Conciar tries the next connected provider that offers the same method. Drag the providers to set the order of the backups.
Failover applies to online checkouts only, not to subscription renewals.
What you see afterwards
The provider card on Settings → Payment providers shows Connected. Your enabled methods appear at online checkouts, on the booking page and widget for deposits, and as Scan to pay on the till.
Common problems
The till says "No online payment method is enabled."Scan to pay needs at least one online method that is switched on. Check Settings → Payment providers, and make sure you clicked Save Payment Settings.
A method doesn't show at checkout. Check that it's switched on in your Mollie or Buckaroo account, that the order amount is within its limits, and that the sales channel offers it.
Klarna doesn't show. Klarna needs the order lines and a billing address, so with Mollie it only appears at checkouts that ask for an address.
Payments with Mollie stay in test mode. You're still using a test_ key. Paste the live_ key and save.
